According to Chinese mythology, the gods and goddesses often descend to earth when
they are bored with their perfect life in heaven. They live in disguise to experience
the mortals’ joy, happiness, anger and pain, and their keen sensitivity and godly
talent allows them to record these emotions.
All artists, including writers, composers, performers, and dancers, are those very
gods and goddesses trapped on earth. While they experience the darkness of mundane
life, they create the most beautiful work that comforts and uplifts everyone around
them.
It has taken me a lifetime to understand and accept that I am different, that I
must embrace my sensitivity and creativity. I am a literature major, a music and
a dance lover, and my passions find life in my paintings.
I use mix media to build texture and color to represent the complexities in life.
Both movement and stillness allow my viewers to hear the music and to feel the tension.
The fan, butterflies, and bubbles have become metaphors. The juxtaposition of shapes
and lines is the playful side of me.
I invite my audience to follow the process of my creations, to feel and share both
my euphoria and catharsis.
